I was inspired to chose Dolly Parton as inspiration for this collection due to her western and sparkly aesthetic. My research on Dolly's aesthetic and anatomy of butterflies greatly influenced the textures in the materials I chose. This collection features 4 kinds of leather, 2 sequin fabrics, one woven fabric, one burnout velvet, and a shear beaded fabric. 

 

During design development aside from preliminary collages and sketches, I created a large butterfly anatomy design on muslin and paper and used those to drape on the form. I used the silhouettes of my drapes for my designs and the prominent anatomy lines as design lines. Additionally, my Dolly research revieled many of Dolly's looks cover her arms and legs while still showcasing her figure. I kept that idea in mind while designing.
