SENIOR THESIS

My fathers childhood working on my grandpa's cattle farm in Jalisco, Mexico, inspired my collection. I focused on the functionality and design of Western style saddle bags, which are featured on the saddles of workhorses. The main fabrics used in this collection are embossed cow leather and hand-woven cotton fabric from Guatemala. This collection also features some Mexican inspired hardware such as buckles and conchos. The color scheme is influenced by my original research done at Vista Mar Stables in Daly City, where I gravitated towards colorful horse leads and an orange saddle bag.

Through this collection I aimed to showcase a Western style from a Mexican perspective that supports the Latino community and expresses my admiration for my Mexican heritage.
